2011 - Present

Community makerspace and hackerspace

From 2011 to 2014 I served as an elected Director and Operations Manager of SkullSpace, a Winnipeg-based makerspace that has quickly become Canada's largest. The objective of the organisation is to bring together a diverse community of makers, hackers, tech enthusiasts and artists to share knowledge and creativity in a common space.

As Operations Manager I was instrumental in setting up the group's first physical makerspace, which included planning the layout, managing the space, and coordinating event programming and workshops. I also managed the group's transition to a newer permanent space, handling logistical planning and setup. A large component of my involvement included making sense of the mountain of tech hardware and equipment that we received, and providing opportunities for members and visitors to learn about technology through hands-on workshops and member-driven hackathons.

Since 2014 I have been an active volunteer with SkullSpace, supporting workshop planning, space management, and website design.
